In its 50th year, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) presents Utkarsh series; a Lecture-Demonstration by Kathak Duo – Nalini Kamalini on 11th October,2019 from 6:30 pm onward at Godrej Dance Theatre, NCPA.  

Internationally renowned Kathak duo Nalini Kamalini are devoted disciples of Kathak maestro, Jitendra Maharaj of Varanasi gharana, the trendsetter of the temple style of Kathak dancing. The sisters are blessed with rare artistic qualities of natural expression, grace, clarity and perfection, and known for their refined sensibilities and subtlety. They have been decorated with various awards. They have set the world record for dancing at the height of 18,000 feet at Kailash Mansarovar in the year 2003. They have been awarded the Nritya Shiromani from Sur Singar Samsad, Delhi Nritya Praveen, Madras Special President Award from President R. Venkataraman, Delhi Mahakal Samman, Mahila Shiromani Indira Priyadarshini Excellence Award for Dance, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, amongst others.

They are often invited to present this traditional form before visiting dignitaries in the Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhawan and have participated in several national and international festivals of repute in various parts of the world viz. the UK, the USA, France, etc. They have conducted many lecture-cum-demonstrations in various leading universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Leiden, Manchester and London School of Economics that were of great success.
